Workshop: How Family History Shapes Personal Identity
By Vytaute Bacianskaite
Brussels: 14 June 2023
We all belong to families, whether they be traditional or not. We were born in a particular time and circumstances which surrounded us at the moment of our birth, through childhood, and accompany us throughout our entire lives.
A country, its historic events, family, social status, language, and the environment, all shape us and our personalities. We learn certain behavioural and mental patterns from our family members, we repeat and introduce them into our daily lives, and then we pass this knowledge to future generations.
On 14th of June, the Day of Mourning and Hope -- which marks the first Soviet mass deportation of Lithuanians and other nationalities in 1941 -- Vytaute Bacianskaite invites you to a workshop where she will share her family life story and analyse how different historical events and conditions in the family influenced the development of an individual.
In this interactive workshop, Vytaute will help you to:
- Learn key psychological theories analysing how family influences an individual.
- Become aware of the mental and behavioural patterns that are subconsciously inherited and are weakening an independent development of a personality.
- Learn techniques of letting go of patterns that limit the personal growth and happiness.
What to expect?
- A blend of theoretic concepts and interactive exercises.
- Self-awareness exercises.
- Group work.
