Workshop: The Power of Personal Narrative: Unlocking Your Story Potential
By Colette Victor
Brussels: 22 February 2023
*** Please note new venue below ***
Personal narratives are powerful. They are developed through a mixture of experiences and personality and they create the lens through which we see the world. Our personal narratives tell us what we can and cannot do. They tell us how we expect to be treated. Listening to true stories can widen our perspective and help us realise what we have in common.
In this workshop, participants will bring a personal story of about 5 minutes based on a prompt. They will be given the basic tools to hone their story to present it to others.*
This workshop aims to:
- Create a supportive space in which people can listen and be heard.
- Provide tools for storytelling including (basic) story craft and performance tools.
- Develop important skills, from social-emotional capacities to critical speaking, listening, and narrative skills.
Human beings continue to be inexplicably attracted to artful storytelling in every language, everywhere in the world.
* Presenting your story to the group is not obligatory.
