Workshop: Befriending your Nervous System to Better Navigate Challenging Times

By Anita Sheehan

Brussels: 11 October 2023

We live in challenging times, where overwhelm is never far away. In this workshop we will be exploring our autonomous nervous system, the part of our body that’s always running in the background but that we are typically not aware of - until its symptoms become too strong to ignore. Awareness of our autonomous nervous system and bespoke exercises can help us bounce back from stressful moments and become more grounded and connected to ourselves.

In this workshop, we will cover a bit of theory, the basic make-up of our nervous system -- its elements and what they are responsible for.

This will be followed by interactive exercises to create new awareness of the various states we can find ourselves in and to become active participants in its regulation.

Participants can expect to:

Understanding and befriending your autonomous nervous system has many benefits, including the possibility to better navigate the ups and downs of daily life.

About Anita Sheehan

Anita has worked as a life coach and trainer for over ten years. Recently, she has become more aware of the significant role the body plays in healing trauma (both shock and developmental/intergenerational). Regulating the nervous system is part of the healing process of permanently dysregulated states, leading to anxiety, depression, restlessness, and disease. She is increasingly working as a therapist, using primarily the NARM (NeuroAffective Relational Model), a psycho-somatic method of exploring roadblocks to greater mental and physical health.
