Workshop: Discover the Hidden Clues to the Culture Puzzle
By Ruth Friedman
Brussels: 12 December 2018
Do you ever wish that people from other cultures understood you better; or that you could understand better what’s behind the behaviour of people from other cultures?
Does it sometimes feel like you are trying to solve a puzzle but you don’t know how to find the missing clues?
Living and working in and around Brussels, we encounter each other’s cultures on a daily basis. But how often do you miss the cultural cues from the people you meet or work with?
Would you like to learn about some of the faux pas from other cultures and share some about your own?
In this experimental and experiential workshop we will be exploring this topic. We will learn from each other – so please come prepared to share some tips and experiences from your own culture as well as from living in other cultures – whether in Belgium or elsewhere.
As usual we hope to have a good mix of people from all cultures, including Belgium, naturally. We will all come away with more knowledge about how our own culture is perceived from outside and how to get along with people who have a different cultural background. If you are an expat living in Belgium, or a Belgian working with expats, this is sure to be useful.
So, please come along with your stories of the strange, incomprehensible things that have happened to you in interacting with local people, here and elsewhere.
